FFA Apple Picking

FFA+Apple+Picking

Erik Matthews, EMC Staff Writer

Apple season is here! Are you craving a delicious Honey Crisp or a sweet apple pie made from amazing McIntosh apples? Well, then, you can see the FFA today! This past Sunday, FFA members hand-picked apples from the business My Other Garden out of Charlton, New York. It was a great sunny day to experience such an amazing activity. Jay Matthews, the co-owner of My Other Garden, taught kids several important facts about picking apples, and apples in general. Some of these included how easily apples bruise, how to use picking baskets, how many different varieties of apples there are, and, of course, how to properly pick apples. The FFA picked over 50 bushels of apples just for you! The most popular order so far has been the Honey Crisp. You can purchase all of the apples in a ½ peck or peck sized bag. The McIntosh and Empire are $8.00 a ½ peck and $15.00 a peck, while the Honey Crisp and Macoun are $10.00 a ½ peck, and $19.00 a peck. If you would like to purchase these tasty apples, you can contact Ms. Clifford or any FFA member. The sale ends this Friday, so if you would like to support the FFA and all of their hard work, please place your order by Thursday, October 5th!
