Coming to Galway on April 8th, 9th and 10th is an especially unique comedy not to be missed called ‘Lucky Stiff.’ ‘Lucky Stiff’ is a fast paced, outgoing, and very funny play about a shoe salesman named Harry Witherspoon. Harry Witherspoon lives a very uneventful life, until his life takes a quick turn when he finds out his uncle, a casino owner named Anthony, has been shot by his blind lover. Harry learns that he stands to inherit six million dollars, but only if he agrees to take his uncle’s corpse to Monte Carlo, otherwise the money will go his favorite charity, The Universal Dog Home of Brooklyn. So Harry embarks on a long journey to Monte Carlo, where along the way he meets many people who are also looking for this money in this not to be missed show.

The cast of this very funny show has been working hard for almost two months to make sure it’s the funniest they can possibly make it. I recently interviewed most of the cast and they all seem very enthusiastic about their show coming up. Freshman Hannah Thompson, who is playing the role of Dominique de Monico stated, “I think this show is going to be great this year. Overall it’s such a surprise that the audience can have just as much fun as the cast!”

This just shows how much of a blast everyone can have during this show. Senior Britt Keller, playing the role of Rita La Porta said, “The play is going to be different but exciting. Galway plays have been funny in the past, but this play is strictly a comedy, and that’s why I think so many people are going to enjoy it. The cast has been working tirelessly, especially the past two weeks, and I am extremely excited to perform with them because they make it such a blast!”

Senior Jose Diaz, playing the role Doctor Vincent DiRuzzio or Vinnie stated, “This show is very different than the ones I have done in the past, but in a good way. There are many unique songs that are played throughout the show and definitely many hilarious scenes. I most definitely think people of all ages can and will enjoy this play.”

Finally, freshman Julia Holbrook had a little bit to say about the cast chemistry and how this plays along to making a great show. “We have tons of great actors and actresses which makes this a great production because we all get along. Because we all get along, we help each other out and have a great time doing so. I’ve been in other productions, but this one I finally feel like we are a family and I really enjoy it a lot!”

This goes to show how great of a cast the Galway High Drama Club has. They help one another get better and pick each other up when they are getting weaker. With a great cast comes a great show and this play is one that shouldn’t be missed. Not only is it fun for the cast, but it will definitely be fun for all audiences too! Show times are April 8th and 9th at seven o’clock and April 10th at two o’clock. See you there!
