Student Senate makes the season bright

GALWAY– The Homecoming Dance is one of the highlights of the school year since it draws many students, grades 9-12, and even some alumni. The dance is a big fundraiser for Student Senate, and this year the club adviser and officers decided to use the money to help out the community.

As always, the classes competed to see who could bring in the most items for the food drive. Mr. Kirvin, and the officers, Molly Mancini, Lindsay Carlsen, Che White and Nicole Marchese decided to help make this year’s food drive a little more interesting. Each class was provided with a shopping list and $100 and told to get as many items they could on the list.

The classes did very well with the Food Shopping Scramble! The ninth graders purchased 111 items, the sophomores bought 94 items, the juniors had 167 items and the seniors had 85 items. In addition, the Student Senate officers went shopping with $200 and purchased 118 items. So all in all, Student Senate donated $600 for the food drive for the Galway Food Pantry.

The class with the highest number of items overall will be announced at the Pep Rally on Friday. Well done everybody!
