SARATOGA– The Galway Envirothon team traveled to the State Park in Saratoga to compete in the annual competition. Che White, Gabbi Urban, Molly Mancini, Lindsey Carlsen and Brendon Kondrat were accompanied by Science Club adviser, Paul Levin, to the event Tuesday, May 6.

Students on the team have been studying topics such as aquatics, forestry, soils and current events for the last month or so. They had to meet after school and over the weekend to prepare.

The team earned third place in the competition, in a slate of schools that included Ballston Spa and Saratoga Catholic.

“I thought it was fun and I would like to do it again next year. It was an interesting experience. I would recommend this to people who have an interest in science,” commented junior Che White.

Science Club adviser Levin added, “It was a very entertaining day. Kids who are not involved and would like to join can just go to the next Science Club meeting. The next Science Club event is the E-Waste recycling Day on May 17th.”

Students who help out at the recycling event can also earn community service hours. See Mr. Levin for details.
