Inspiration: Jordan Spieth

Jordan Spieth, the 22 year old professional golfer from Dallas, Texas began making a name for himself in college. Jordan attended college at the University of Texas, where in 2011 his freshman year, he led his team to a National Championship. Jordan also won the U.S. Junior Amateur in 2009 and 2011, becoming only one of two people who have ever won two U.S. Junior Amateurs. The other person, being arguably one of the best golfers in history,  was Tiger Woods. After only about 2 years of college, Jordan turned professional. Two weeks before his 20th birthday (July 14th 2013), he won his first professional tournament. Then came one of the biggest tournaments of the year, the Masters. In 2014 Jordan had a share of the lead with Bubba Watson, another one of the game’s greats, heading into the final day. Bubba pulled ahead on Sunday and ended up winning. Jordan finished tied for 2nd becoming the youngest runner-up in Masters history. In 2015 Spieth won another tournament and headed back to the Masters looking for the victory he just narrowly missed out on in 2014. Spieth shot an opening round 64 which set a record for the youngest person to lead the Masters after the first round. He went on to shoot a 66 the next day breaking another record. Spieth finished the tournament on Sunday at 18 under (-18) which tied yet another record. This time Jordan came out on top and won by 4 strokes over Phil Mickelson. This record was for the lowest finishing score in Masters history. Yet again, the other person who held this record was Tiger Woods. Spieth also went on to win the U.S. Open in 2015 and the Tour Championship which are some of the biggest tournaments of the year. This brought Spieth to #1 in the World. With an unbelievable season, Spieth won over 22 million dollars in 2015. Spieth didn’t’ stop there; he went on to win another tournament at the beginning of this season and placed second again at this years Masters. With all of these amazing accomplishments, Jordan has inspired many including me. It goes to show that practice does make perfect and that you should always strive for greatness. Jordan inspires me to become a better golfer and a better person. I hope one day I will be able to accomplish all of the amazing thing he has in his spectacular career.
