Vo-Tec Criminal Justice Program travels to NYC

Samantha Munchbach, EMC Guest Writer

We planned our end of the year field trip to go to New York City to the 9/11 memorial and museum. As the day came closer we were given more information about what we would be doing and the different time frames. We would visit the museum, see the memorial pools and walk to the church where the injured and dead were brought. We planned to walk to the seaport where we would have time to shop.

Unfortunately, when we got to NYC it was pouring and the only thing we were able to do was go through the 9/11 museum and walk two blocks where we got food. Luckily we were still able to see the memorial pools. The 9/11 museum was intense. It really put into perspective how terrible the attack was. There was an entire room devoted just to the people who lost their lives. Throughout the museum there were different little artifacts that were saved. While you were in the different rooms you could feel the amount of sadness in everyone’s thoughts and it was really depressing.

Written across an entire wall is the quote “No day shall erase you from the memory of time” by Virgil. (The picture is attached to this article.) This quote represents everything so well, including the entire attack and the lives lost. The museum is breathtaking and really gives you a feeling about how terrible this really was, and how we have to try so hard to prevent another event like this from happening. I highly recommend that everybody go see the memorial pools and the museum.
