Interested in technology and looking for a special opportunity? There is a new program that gives students a boost into college courses and allows them to explore pathways in entrepreneurship, computer sciences, nanotechnology/mechatronics, and renewable energy. The classes start in 9th and 10th grade. In 9th and 10th grade, students get out of school for half of a day once a month. The students take a field trip to the campus in Malta so that they can focus on college and work with technology.

Core Values

Eric Malanoski, a 9th grader in the program, stated that the classes like to start with communication and how important it is to business and technology. If someone cannot properly display the information that they have discovered then that information is useless. The Tec-Smart program also believes in making students more independent. Students have their own schedules and no bell is necessary.Students are almost forced to learn time management.  Eric  highly recommended the class for all technology lovers.

High School

Senior Tim Web-Horvath provided  some insight on the regular day of a Tec-Smart class from the view of a senior. The students go for half of a day each day of the week. The students then learn skills like working with fellow students, and speaking publicly in front of their peers.Tim also told that the teachers are especially helpful and understanding with the students. He said that the teachers will take time to work with students individually if needed. The students also do many “mini projects” in which they research information on websites. The projects aren’t just focused on one core of education. The projects deal with all cores like mathematics and english.
