Happy spooky season Eagle Nation! All across the world, people are indulging in all sorts of activities that get them in the fall spirit. Hiking, apple picking, and taking family pictures are just a few of the many. When most people think about fall, they think of haunted hay rides, corn mazes, pumpkin patches, the leaves changing color, and of course, Halloween!
Halloween is celebrated all throughout the globe on October 31st. Costumes and jack-o’-lanterns fill peoples porches as trick or treaters come along throughout the night. The idea to carve pumpkins began in Ireland, when people started to carve demonic faces out of turnips to frighten away Jack’s wandering soul. When Irish immigrants moved to the U.S., they began carving jack-o’-lanterns from pumpkins, as these were native to the region.
Each month, Student Senate likes to offer the students of Galway an opportunity to show their Eagle pride and participate in an activity. This month, we have decided to host a pumpkin carving contest.
It’s time to vote, Eagle Nation!
