Alex and Anna

After winning the school Poetry Out Loud competition, Alex Malanoski and Anna Dabrowski went on the regional level. Hudson Valley Community College hosted the event with 10 students from local schools competing for top honors and the chance to compete at the state level in New York City.

Anna memorized the poems “The End of Science Fiction” by Lisel Mueller, “The World is Too Much With Us” by William Wordsworth, and “The Obligation to be Happy” by Linda Pastan. Alex memorized “Advice from La Llorona” by Deborah A. Miranda, “Invictus” by William Ernest Henley, and “Respiration” by Jamaal May.

Both Anna and Alex had an impressive stage presence and expressive interpretations. Although they did not make it  to the state competition, they certainly made Eagle Nation proud with their extensive preparation and effort. Alex will be graduating in June, but we look forward to seeing Anna compete again next year! Great job Alex and Anna!
