HARTFORD–Where to begin. Well… for my 18th birthday I bought myself tickets to go see Katy Perry in Connecticut on November 15th. It was one of the best purchases  I’ve ever made… because the concert was unbelievably amazing! If you have the chance to go see her, do it!

When I walked in the arena, I noticed the smell of cupcakes and candy everywhere. It was totally Katy Perry themed. Ellie Goulding was the opening act.  I’ve never heard of her before, but she had some cool music. She played electronic/pop kind of music. It caught my attention, but a lot of her songs kind of sounded the same. Check out her single “Lights.”

DJ Skeet Skeet got the party started! He was the second act while they were getting Katy Perry’s stage set up. He played remixes of Adele, Foster the People, and some Katy Perry. It was wicked sweet and the entire crowd started dancing to it! He was very entertaining! But then he ended his set… and it was time for Katy Perry!

If I rant…. you can stop reading it or continue too. I love Katy Perry…. so now I’ll tell you about her part of the concert.

I started screaming… then crying… then screaming…and crying some more. Katy Perry is my idol, inspiration, etc. Anyway… at the start, a movie began on the screen.  It focused on the theme to her concert. She’s in Candyland, and she meets a boy at a cupcake shop. The story goes on…and then finally… she finally came on stage! Her stage was Candyland themed. There were peppermint canes going down the row of a peppermint staircase, had gum drop boards, lollipops everywhere, and lots of pink! Very girly and candyish! She also had the cotton candy cloud which I thought was very cool.

She opened up with “Teenage Dream” and it was amazing! I don’t remember the order of the songs after that, but literally every song she had a new costume on. While she was changing… the movie would be playing (the story line that went with concert) and then she would come back on! Her costumes were the ones she wore in her music videos, and they were so “candyish”! I loved all of them!

For each song she had back up dancers with her and they had these great routines. Considering that she was dancing, running, and walking around, I thought she sounded great too! No… I’m not just saying that either. She sang hit after hit, after hit, and by the end of the night I could hardly talk! For the song “Thinking of You” she was strapped on to a cotton candy cloud. If you can imagine it… it went up in the air and floated across the arena. How cool!!

I had many tears, a raspy voice, and an incredible concert experience. It was one of the best, if not the best concert experience.

The Katy Perry concert was amazing and when she goes back on tour… go buy and ticket and see her! It’ll be worth it I promise!

The 2011 California Dreams Tour was stunning, incredible, and the best:)
