Are you a tea or a coffee person? Me personally I love tea. Coffee to me tastes very bitter, the only way I’ve been able to drink it is when it is full of sugar and barely tasted like coffee. Tea has so many benefits to our health as well, so it’s healthy for you while still getting that caffeine intake.
Tea is healthy because it is rich in antioxidant properties, which protect the cells from damage caused by free radicals. Studies have also been shown that tea improves heart health, as it can lower blood pressure and improve cholesterol levels. Tea also reduces inflammation as well as boosting brain function due to the caffeine in it.
Just like tea, coffee also provides some health benefits. Drinking coffee has shown reduce risks in chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes, Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimers, and some cancers. It also has acted as a trigger for weight loss for some as it could potentially boost your metabolism. Coffee also has antioxidant properties and can improve brain and heart health.
A Harvard article was published about the different benefits of tea and coffee. It was said that tea and coffee aren’t that different when it comes down to the nutritional facts. As the article stated “Both beverages are also rich in antioxidants like polyphenols, which help reduce chronic inflammation and neutralize cell-damaging free radicals” (LeWine).
I still personally believe tea is better tasting as well as health wise. For the people who drink black coffee, that is just as healthy as tea, but its when you turn a drink like coffee into a large sugary drink, and drinking that multiple times a day, that’s when it really becomes an issue.
