Rachel Germain, EMC Staff Writer

My name is Rachel Germain and I am the President of this club! I started this club at Galway after being chosen by the DoSomething Organization to become a DoSomething Club leader over the summer.

The purpose of the club is to participate in community service activities. Our community service activities are called campaigns and we choose them from the DoSomething website. There are many other clubs across the United States that participate in these campaigns as well.

We have many members in our club but are always looking for more! If you don’t want to join the club but would love to participate in some campaigns with us, you can find the Google Classroom code and Remind code outside of room 412 (Mrs. Lushkevich’s room). Also, there are announcements on GTV about when our meetings are. You can stop by to participate in some community service activities and earn hours for NJHS or NHS.

Some activities we have already done are writing letters to active service members and veterans, making activity books for children in children’s hospitals, making support boards for the hallways, hanging up positive posters and hosting a puzzle party for 1st-3rd graders.

In the upcoming months, we will be holding a jean drive, writing letters to teachers, hosting a carnival for elementary students, baking cookies for the Galway Volunteer Fire Department, hosting a voters’ registration booth, college information night with Galway alumni and mini PFM classes after school.

I am glad that I was able to start the Galway DoSomething club! I want to thank Mr. Miller, Mrs. Donovan and the Board of Education for allowing me to start this club. I also want to thank Mrs. Lushkevich for being my adviser for the club and helping me with everything!
