Martin on Music

By: Lindsay Martin

Sean Combs, aka Diddy, formed a new group called DiddyDirtyMoney including him, and new singers Dawn Richard and Kalenna. This album brings you storylines from past experiences, boring beats–it is a pathetic album. This album is garbage… and Diddy needs to stop making this awful music. This album brings out a new side of Diddy which I’m not too crazy about. Its suppose to be hip/hop, but it’s more like Pop R&B failure.

After listening to this album a couple times, I found it simply boring and not enjoyable. The lyrics seemed the same… about relationships, love, etc.  The beats were repetitive and after the first couple songs I got sick of listening to the album.

The lyrics were really cheesy, and I’m sure a 5th grader can write better lyrics then DiddyDirtyMoney. In this album it seemed that Diddy had no rhymes that were any good and the flow of his rhymes were bad. The album has no heart and soul, and it sounds like another generic hip/hop album… or maybe he’s trying to do a crossover into R&B. Its hard to tell when your listening to garbage.

There was alot of featured artists on this album… which made it more interesting. Some featured artists were Swizz Beatz, Usher, Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Justin Timberlake, and more. It should’ve been titled “Diddy Dirty Collaborations” or something. The majority of the songs had various artists on it.

Here’s a tiny biography about new group DiddyDirtyMoney:

Rapper, Producer, Clothing designer, etc. Sean Combs aka  P.Diddy, Puff Daddy, and now Diddy. Started Bad Boy Entertainment, Making the Band (MTV Series), and the Sean John clothing line

Singer Kalenna started writing songs at 11, and she eventually used her songwriting talent for artists Jill Scott, Jennifer Lopez aka J.Lo, and Timbaland.

Singer Dawn Richards is formerly from the band Danity Kane (which have since broken up) and the MTV series “Making the Band 3”

Songs to listen to:  “Hello Good Morning,”  “Loving You No More,”  “Coming Home”

These songs were decent. I thought the beat was either uplifting (“Hello Good Morning”), or the lyrics were well written and told a story (“Coming Home”) and the last song had a good theme to it and a nice hook (“Loving You No More”)

I would NOT recommend buying this album… I think its garbage and a waste of money (or downloading time).

Thanks to www.gomoxie.org for the promotional materials on the band.
