New Opportunity for High School Artists: After School Pottery Wheel

Erica Wardell, long term leave replacement for Mrs. David, has volunteered her personal time after school to introduce a new ceramic technique to students: the pottery wheel.

Ceramics throwing on the pottery wheel is an advance method of clay production that requires discipline, patience and upper body strength. Ms. Wardell has graciously brought in her personal electronic wheel for students to “throw” on in order to provide them with the best experience possible. Students from Ms. Wardell’s and Mrs. Mierzwa-Latza’s classes have signed up to stay after school and learn the new method.

Junior Cassidy Freeman also took a study hall to throw again in order to perfect her skill. Victoria Mello stated “It was so much harder than I thought it would be, but it was fun. I want to do it again.” The opportunity will last through June 27th.
