You’re probably here because you saw the words K-Pop Demon Hunters huh? Maybe you’re the hugest fan girl, and you know all of the dance moves to Sodapop. Or maybe you’re the exact opposite and you’re hoping I bag on the movie.
As someone whose sister is the first type of person (I’m sure she’s learning the dance moves as we speak), in my honest opinion: It’s not bad. I feel like it’s just ‘over rated’ if you will, by the media. I’m sure we all see those people, on YouTube or Facebook or whatever social media platform you use as you fall asleep (yes I see right through your ‘disguise’), that probably spends a lot of time and money replicating costumes in the movie.
When the movie first came out, I thought, ‘I’m not gonna watch it, I don’t like K-Pop.’ But I decided to give it a chance when one of my besties recommended it. I tried to watch it with an open mind. After all, I shouldn’t hate on a movie just because I don’t like the song genre. And of course my annoying (JK, love you sis!) sister watched it with me. And she typically goes through a phase every few years, just getting out of her Harry Potter phase she was looking for something else to sink her claws into.
As we watched the movie she pointed everything out that had to do with any of her previous phases (of course). But by the end of the movie we both became a Rujinu shipper. I believe that despite all of the social media craze about it currently, it was a great movie and beautifully written.
So yes I am part of the ‘KPDH (K-Pop Demon Hunters) fandom’ and yes I am part of many, many other ones, but this movie was really good, and it doesn’t deserve to be bagged based off of the crazy fangirls (and boys) who know all of the dance moves and spend way too much money on replica costumes. But yes I do know that is exactly what I did.
