Last week we attended the leadership conference as a group of student leaders representing Galway. There were lots of other schools within the BOCES district, and we all met in Lake George.

We were all seated at tables separately and with people we had never met. Then, we were given time to meet each other and did some of the icebreakers.

There was a speaker who talked about how to be a leader and how leaders are made. His presentation was fun and we all were able to participate throughout. One main takeaway was, leaders can be led. He shared some personal stories on how he became a leader and how other leaders are who influenced him.

We had lunch and then played some more games to work together and communicate within our tables. We learned a lot not only from the presentation, but from connections with other students and discussions with other student leaders. The trip was fun and impactful for all of us who went!
