Zoom in on the Supermoon!

Alex Malanoski, EMC Staff Writer

The moon is a good subject because if you really get close enough you can see the cool little craters on it that stand out and are really cool. Also, if you get a shot of a tree branch, or anything in front of the moon, it will appear as a shadow, which will make it stand out. These were taken during the week of the super moon, which was on November 14, 2016, on a Canon PowerShot SX30 IS camera with a 35x zoom. You can’t photograph the moon like this with your I-phone because you need a zoom lens to be able to zoom up far enough to see the moon and the craters. An I-phone doesn’t have that far of a zoom camera at this time.
I took the shots where the moon is white outside of my house standing in  my driveway. I took the orange shots of the moon standing off the side of the highway next to Kaydeross (abbreviated version of Kayaderosseras) Creek where we could see the moon and there was an opening in the trees where it appeared. I took the shot with the tree shadows in front of it on my road towards the end of it near a stop sign.
