Parking Pass Entries

Parking+Pass+Entries

This year for the annual parking contest, we had four very deserving entries. In order to be considered for the two parking spots on the upper lot, a student had to complete an essay in which they describe why they deserve to park on the upper lot.  They also had to provide a picture of their car.  The essays and pictures of each contestant is posted below.  The winners will be announced shortly.

The student essays:

This summer my car and I went on an adventure. The wild adventure first started when I was searching on Craigslist for fun. This time of searching was different though. When I stumbled upon the ad “2007 Volkswagen G4”, I fell in love. I knew I had to have it. So within a week I scraped up the funds, traveled to Latham with my trusty co-pilot (my brother) and bought the car of my dreams. I’m pretty sure this could qualify as a love story because I know my car loves me back just as much. Anyways, the previous owner had never named it, so with some debating, we settled on Loretta – Loretta the Jetta.  The name is not only corny, but also deceiving because Loretta may seem like a lame name, but when she’s showing off, she turns heads. Within a few weeks, Loretta and I became the best of friends. We’d go everywhere together, like the movies, the grocery store, the mall, there is no place we wouldn’t go together. (FYI, Loretta’s favorite place to go with me was the car wash but that doesn’t really matter) Anyways the point of explaining my life with Loretta is that she deserves the parking spot because she would like to be closer to me when I’m at school. We’ve grown so close that the distance makes her sad. Also, the trouble making goons in the lower parking lot scare the paint right off her.

Kyle Orminski:

Dear Mrs. O,

I am writing to you concerning the parking spot contest. I have two vehicles. One is a 1998 Dodge Half-ton pick up. It’s my baby I did a bunch of body work and painted it last winter. I again have it apart this winter to do more work to it. It’s almost down to bare frame right now. My second vehicle is a 1985 Dodge D-350 dump truck. I use that mostly in the winter to keep the salt off my nice truck. I also use it to haul loads, deliver fire wood, etc.. The dump is a good girl, got about 73,000 miles, she’s got a 360, 4 barrel, and a 4 speed standard. Goes about 45 mph right to the floor. My sisters cram into the dump truck every morning to go to school. We couldn’t have my poor sisters (star varsity volleyball players) walking up the snowy slippery hill in the morning and fall and hurt themselves. This would prevent them from playing club volleyball in the winter, which would mean they don’t improve over the winter and the volleyball team wouldn’t be up to its full potential next season. My baby truck had a brand new paint job on it which wasn’t cheap, and I parked it in my normal parking spot. I walked out of school to see someone I’m not saying names (Tim Keller) doing donuts in the school parking lot. Which put a bunch rock chips and dents in my brand new beautiful paint job. I would like to park up on the paved parking lot because its in best interest of my clumsy sisters in the winter and careless people cant hurt my nice truck that I have put so much time and money into to make nice, which I have to re-paint again this year because of all the rock chips and dents from parking in the student parking. I would really appreciate it if you would choose me for this parking spot. Thank you for your time.

Molly Cross:

Dear Mrs. O and Mr. Mulroy,

I believe I should get the parking pass. I do believe this because my vehicle and I are really cute! My car is black and special and it has special needs. My cars name is Zoey. I mean I know I probably shouldn’t name my car but I spend so much time in it that I have a relationship with her!  The lower lot is just not suited for Zoey’s unique frame and adorable tires. The mud and salt will wear away at her! But the upper lot is absolutely perfect! The smooth pavement and, perfectly well kept area would feel so good on Zoey’s worn out tires. She could take a nice break from the roughness of dirt. So for the goodness of Zoey, I do believe I should get the parking pass! Thank you for allowing Zoey and I this opportunity!

To receive this honorable parking pass, one should participate within the school. I am one of those students who participate in many school functions. I played on the Varsity Girls soccer team. It would have been very nice to have the privilege to park in the upper parking lot when carrying a backpack full of advanced or honor classes books, and a sports bag. With soccer done, I now devote my time to yearbook, senior editor, and class office, as president. When we come back from Thanksgiving break I will spend many late nights working on the hallway decorations, leaving after it is well after dark.

Now my car, her name is Sally. She is a 2002 Honda accord. She’s only 11 years old and would like to be spoiled with this royal treatment. She is all black and has a few flower tattoos on her back. But very classy, indeed it would be nice to see her brag to everyone else that she would remain in the student parking lot.
