Thursday, May 24th was our best JJSA meeting yet. Molly Wood and Mrs.DeLuca “host” our gatherings. JJSA stands for Junior Junior State of America. Yes I do know that it is weird. At JJSA we do debates, thought talks, and improv. One of our thought talks was a discussion about people’s images of themselves and other people’s perceptions of their appearance. Regular attendees include seventh grade students Callia Boudreau, Hannah Bramer, Shelby Allen, Jillian Quay, Justine Quay, Rachel Bailey, Aaron Lundquist, Matthew Grosky, Nick Hanna and Dillon Ogden. 8th grader Jeni Rumsey attended every meeting also.
“I liked the open debates and how you could express yourself,” Callia shared. Justine liked when the group discussed a serious topic related to the Newtown shooting. She supports having troopers guard our schools.
It’s not all serious though. We had one debate about dinosaurs existing again. Shelby was assigned the negative side so she pointed out the inconvenience of dinosaurs, “Ok, guys, where would you park your dinosaur? Like on the roof?”
