The Boys are Back in Town

Spring training is over and the season has begun. The Varsity season is in full swing with four games already in the book. Its a very young squad this year with only four seniors. The 14-man roster consists of Evan Ceroalo(Senior), Frank Schwab(Senior), Steven Garney(Senior), Tyler Bailey(Senior), Ben Manna(Junior), Zachary Hartman(Junior), Tyler Goergen(Junior), Gareth Phelps(Junior), Robbie Baron(Sophomore), Jeff Kline(Sophomore), Dan Diaz(Sophomore), Nate Pawlowski(Sophomore), Taylor Hartman(Freshman), and Sam Uline(8th grade). The season is looking bright for young Sam Uline who is only in eighth grade. Sam bats in the three slot.

The team had a rough start against Stillwater in their opening game losing 17-2 but still looking good in the later part of the season. But they bounced back quickly to pick up the “W”, their first of the season in a blow-out  against Middleburgh.  Since then they have put up fights against both Duanesburg and Canajoharie.  After coming close twice the team finally got another win to push them back to the .500 mark after betting there rivals Mayfield.

At this point, the team has a record of 2-3, specifically 2-2 in the league.  In their most recent 2 of their 3 losses, the score has been kept close.  Earlier this week, the team lost a close game to Canajoharie, in which they were ahead until the last inning, until they clinched defeat from the claws of victory.

Don’t let a loss get you down boys, there are other games and you can still make it far in the season. Good luck Galway!!

I’m looking forward to watching these guys play. After five games a year ago, the varsity was 1-4 and then finished the season going 8-3. I’d love to see this team in Sectionals for the second year in a row. Ya gotta want it guys!
