GALWAY– What do you believe? Juniors were asked to answer this question as an assignment for their English class last year. One student, Paige Galloway, decided to explain her lifelong devotion to the Buffalo Bills. In addition, she decided to send the essay to her favorite team. She was surprised this summer with a very special package that included two photos, signed by Fred Jackson and Ryan Fitzpatrick, and a Bills’ Fandemonium flag.

Here’s the essay that earned her very cool Bills’ swag!

Football has always been part of my life. I have never played it, but as long as I can remember I have spent my Sundays either watching or listening to the Buffalo Bills’ games. Looking at pictures of me when I was younger I can be seen wearing some sort of Bills’ clothing item or with an object with the Bills’ logo on it in the background. I grew up with the Buffalo Bills as my football team and know they always will be. They not only serve as a connection to my past with memories of my father, but also for memories I wish to have in the future. I believe in the Buffalo Bills.

They are the underdog. Not expected to do well at all because they are the Bills. They work hard though. Even when the odds are against them, they play every game and they do not give up. They have faced many obstacles just like any team; ranging from the complete firing of their coaching staff a few years ago to the injury of 14 players including Fred Jackson who plays a very important role on the team.

I love everything about them. I feel connected to the team and feel as if they are part of my extended family. I always try to get anything Bills that I possibly can and I have so much from slippers to a Christmas ornament. If people ever have a question of what to get me for any holiday or birthday, they know getting something Bills related will be perfect. When I receive such a gift I can barely contain my excitement.

I have had games where I am super proud of them for playing their hardest. Even when they did not get the outcome they wanted, I was happy to see them play with energy and not as if they hadn’t stepped on the field yet. The results of the weekly Bills games can determine what my Monday and the rest of my week will be like. When they lose, I hope for the best in the weeks to come. I believe these losses make the team stronger allowing them to come together to help each other better themselves. The nice surprise is when we win. The joy I feel is indescribable and as the final whistle blows my mom and I jump up and down cheering as loud as we can. This moment of complete and utter elation lasts through the rest of the week and I feel as if I can accomplish any task.

The Buffalo Bills will forever be my team. I believe that as time goes on and the players receive more experience, our team will become unstoppable. I know someday I will be able to look at all those people who have put the Bills down and laugh at them because we will win the Super Bowl!
