GALWAY–Ms. Pepe is the new part time English teacher in the high school and she teaches 10th and 11th grade. She has been teaching for 5 years and says that she was originally inspired to teach by her parents who are both English teachers. She also really enjoyed writing and has fond memories of discussing The Miracle Worker with her parents at the dinner table. She was also inspired by her band teacher Mr. Lowery because he didn’t just teach band, but also gave life lessons. She tries to include this aspect of teaching in her classroom.  Her favorite thing about teaching English is helping students discover what they like about reading and writing.  Her favorite book is The History of Love.

After she finishes her day teaching at Galway,  she teaches a writing class at Schenectady County Community College on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. She enjoys skiing and snowboarding, shopping at garage sales, and drawing. She says that she loves teaching at Galway (and told me to say that she says this emphatically), partially because it reminds her of Schalmont, where she went to high school.

The new teachers that joined our school community have impressed me greatly. Their love of not only teaching but helping student achieve in life is just what our school needs.
