Student senate news

By Jocelyn Dodds (e-Commerce Reporter)

First of all I wan to thank everyone for coming to the homecoming dance. We had an amazing turn out.  I also want to thank everyone for participating in spirit week, banner competition, and the pep rally. The class competition is really heating up. We just need to keep the fire burning through out the rest of the year.

Since this is Jessica’s and my senior year we are looking for someone to recruit for next year. We have a couple prospects, but Student Senate needs to stay as strong as it has been for the last two years. We have worked very hard for the position and leadership we have gained in this school. I know that at times Student Senate can seem either like an intimidating club, or you can feel as though you could not work you way up to that position. Leadership is not a position; it’s a life style. If you feel that you are a leader than take the insinuative to step up, that is what Student Senate is all about. Student Senate is not about planning a good spirit week or dance. The point of Student Senate is to prepare the leaders of the future. We are the future, the world is in a mess, it is up to us to work together to make it a better place to live. Who is going to lead us in doing this? The only way we are going to make our lives the best we can is by the having great leaders. That is what we try to do with Student Senate; we are bringing leadership out of those that may not think they have it in them.

Great pep rally this year. Student Senate is a great organization for students to practice many great skills and to prepare them to be future leaders of America. Keep up the great work.
