Better Than The Movies by Lynn Painter is an amazing book. If you love romance and music, along with TV references, this is the book for you. I originally was enchanted by the painted pages, and I really love music and movies. This book even includes a playlist which includes artists from Taylor Swift to Ed Sheeran to Sara Keys and many more. The book is about this girl whose mother recently passed. Her name is Liz, and a boy moves back to her town. Liz and her mother shared a love for romance movies, so when Michael moves back she realizes it’s her chance to get him to fall in love with her. Unfortunately, the key to getting closer is Wes, her next door neighbor who is a menace. You’ll have to read it yourself to find out how it ends. This amazing book also has a sequel where they go off to college.

Personally I would give this book a 10 out of 10. I read both the first and second books, though I’d label the second, Nothing Like The Movies an emotional rollercoaster that is definitely worth the ride. While I was reading both of them I enjoyed seeing all of the TV shout outs from Victorious to Jessie and even more. And since Liz is a hopeless romantic, she fits a song to just about everything that happens. I loved this series and I hope to read her other books: Betting On You, Better Than the Prom, The Do-Over, and Maid For Each Other.
