Schuyler Arnold, EMC Sr. High Writer, E-Way Correspondent, and GTV Director

Hey everyone! I’m Sky Arnold and I’m currently a senior here at Galway. You may recognize me from working at the E-Way, playing on our school’s volleyball team, or appearing regularly as a director on GTV. In addition, I have a part-time job, play club volleyball and coach a team of players grades 6-8. As you can see, I’m very involved in our school’s community, and I think that greatly enhanced my high school experience. I think my peers will agree that I am a very friendly and outgoing person, which I think will help me in my future!

After high school, I plan on going to Siena College as a member of the Class of 2022 to study secondary English education (which could change to communications). I couldn’t be more excited! When I first stepped onto campus last year for my first-ever visit to the school, I knew it was for me. It was exactly what I was looking for: small, close to home, with plenty of opportunities for extracurricular involvement. Plus, through the Class of 2022 Facebook group, I have met many of my future classmates. It’s great making friends before I even move in!

Being an intern at the E-Way store is really fun (a lot of work, but still fun)! I would definitely recommend it. I think the main thing I have learned from my internship is the level of responsibility that comes with running a store. As a student-run store, myself and the other six interns are responsible for making sure we have the supplies we need to open the store. It takes a lot of work to be prepared and on time every morning we are open. We are most successful when everyone contributes, which is why this year’s group of interns is strong. We are all friends and all bring something different to the table so our store can succeed week after week.

One piece of advice I would give to younger students is to not sweat the small stuff. I know it’s a very recycled saying, and that it is much easier said than done, but life as a high school student becomes so much easier when you start caring about the important things, such as making good grades, family, and friends. Thanks for reading! 🙂
