Kara Ferguson, EMC Staff Writer
Kara is a Senior at Galway who is headed off to SUNY Geneseo in the fall to study to become an English teacher. English has always been her favorite subject with writing being her favorite aspect. She spends much of her free time writing poetry, short stories, and working on her novel. Her book follows 15-year old Charlotte “Lottie” Davis as she looks back on her memories of being a teenager in a 1950s small town which involve many twists and turns. The story reflects some of Kara’s own friendships and experiences from her sophomore year of high school, obviously adjusted for the time period with many fictional details added for interest. Kara is the lead editor of both EMC and the school’s literary magazine (Impressions). She is a massive theater kid, participating in anywhere from 3-5 shows per year. Her biggest accomplishment has been winning a TANYS award for her portrayal of Dorothy Gale in The Wizard of Oz this past summer. Singing is her favorite aspect of theater and she sings in 3 different choruses as well as taking private voice lessons. She hopes to minor in theater in college and let it remain a huge part of her life.
