Next up on my list of seniors to appreciate is soccer player Lilly Jessop. Lilly has been playing soccer since she joined the school travel team in 5th grade. She eventually made the varsity team her sophomore year. Lilly would like to continue playing soccer once she goes to college. She hopes to be able to play for the school, or just in a club. She plans to focus on general studies in college.
Being the senior captain, alongside her junior co-captain Olivia Davison-Gauss, means a lot to Lilly. Despite the fact that she has already had a goal this year, she does wish to collect one more before the season ends. On the topic of her accomplishments at Galway, Lilly is proud of how her time on the soccer team has turned out. She is also proud of her improvement of her soccer and communication skills.
Lilly says she is excited to meet new teammates and says nothing will compare to the girls she has played with since 5th grade. I asked her if she has any final messages to her coaches. She told me, “Thank you for putting me in positions I never played before, it gave me the ability to learn new things and improve.” Final thoughts before the end of her season: “Without my sports, I wouldn’t be the person I am today.”
