What is an art card

An art card is a sports card that does not really look like a sports card.  An art card is supposed to look cool, flashy and fun. For example the 2023 Topps Big League Aaron Judge art card (left). As you can see, Aaron Judge looks like he is hitting pinata not a baseball which makes the card look really fun and unlike a normal card. Art cards are a special kind of cards called an insert. You can also try to collect the whole set of that type of insert or you may want to collect these cards because most of the time these inserts have really good players like: Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani and Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

Art cards can really be super

Art cards don’t always have to be baseball cards they can be football, basketball and hockey cards. Here is an example of a CJ Stroud Manga card (below). As you can see this makes this NFL quarterback look like the Marvel  superhero, Iron Man, and it also makes the card look really cool.  This is also a good example of a really rare card. Part of the fun is how you can get lucky while opening packs and pulling cards.

         Art cards = $$$  (sometimes)

Besides looking cool, art cards can also have a very high value. Like this 2025 Donruss  Downtown Saquon Barkley (below). This  card  is  on eBay  now  for  $4,800 but there are rarer versions that are selling for over $10,000.       

   Ye olde Art cards

Art cards do not always have to be new cards. You can get art cards from almost any card era. Like this 1993 Upper Deck Michael Jordan Fanimation card (below) which makes Michael Jordan look like a superhero that came out of a comic book. This is another example of how art cards can make regular people look fun and really cool at the same time.
