Welcome our new Spanish teacher, Profe Rochette. Profe Rochette’s interest in teaching wasn’t sparked until she was older. She was very nervous about attending university because she didn’t know what she wanted to be so she traveled to Brazil and learned Portuguese first. Later, she decided to move to California where her Portuguese helped her pick up Spanish easily. That boost in confidence changed her life and made her want to spread the love of language learning.
She then went to Siena University in Loudonville, New York for her Bachelor’s degree, and she went to Union College in Schenectady, New York for her Masters degree. After college, she taught in Schenectady, Ballston Spa, and Scotia.
This is now Profe Rochette’s 20th year teaching Spanish. She came to Galway because of the good teaching opportunity in middle and high School, the great camaraderie amongst the staff, and the welcoming atmosphere.
So far, she loves Galway because she feels that she’s joined a big family. Profe Rochette hopes to make all students feel very comfortable and welcome in her classroom.
Other than teaching, Profe Rochette loves watching her three nephews play hockey. She also enjoys collecting trinkets with her daughter. She has collected Labubus and other cute monster trinkets. Labubus are mischievous, elf-like collectible toys produced by Pop Mart.
Profe Rochette also likes to play with her dogs and cats.
When we asked her what superpower she wanted to have, she said teleportation so that she could travel wherever she would like.
