This I Believe

  Ever since I was little I have always believed that spirits were real. However, I do not like shows like ghost adventures, I think they are completely set up. I think that there are two very simple sides to believing in spirits, you either do or do not. Everyone in my family except my mom and I do not believe in spirits. I am one of those people where I can just tell if some place is haunted or if there is something in the room. I do not know how, I just always have had that intuition. For example, if I was to go into an abandoned prison or asylum, I would not be able to do it because I can just feel all of the pain that was caused there. It’s weird, I know. 

Looking back at when I was younger, I realized that I have had so many supernatural experiences. The house that my mother currently lives in is super haunted. As soon as I walked into the house I felt something there. The house is very old, probably from the 1800s, it is just all around a very eerie house. I remember spending a night there, I heard walking upstairs when no one was up there. That is one of many experiences in that house. I have heard banging, rattling, doors being open when we closed then and vice versa.

 I remember this one particular incident in my great-grandparents house that was crazy to me. My great grandparents died about ten years ago, give or take. After they died, we had to sell their house. My mom and I were packing up the house and going through all of their belongings. My mom found a picture of all of them and was telling me a story about my great-grandparents. As she started telling me the story, the lights started flickering and two butterflies flew to the windowsill. My mom and I did not think this was a coincidence. I sort of believe in reincarnation, but there have been multiple times when I have felt like my great-grandparents have been there with me. 

Whenever people tell me they do not believe in spirits, I think they just have not had any experiences with them. People can not grasp things that have not happened to them. I find spirits eerie but also sometimes comforting. For example, the incident that happened at my great grandparents house. It is comforting to know they are looking over us. I believe in spirits.
