On March 2, 2012, another one of Dr.Seuss’s award winning story, The Lorax came out as a motion picture. With Ted, you travel through the history of why the Truffala trees have been cut down and how the Thneeds began. The legend of the Lorax becomes real on the big screen with the voices of Betty White, Danny Devito, Taylor Swift, and Zac Effron.
I enjoyed the movie because it had good music. My favorite character was the Thneedville air man because of his voice. At the end I did cry because the ending was really sweet. The whole moral of the story was that nothing happens unless you do something. This is shown through Ted’s actions as he tries to plant the last seed at the end of the movie.
The Lorax was made by Illumination Entertainment, which was also the creator of Despicable Me. In some parts of the movie, they connect the two movies. If you pay close attention, you will see one of the little minion toys being tossed from the Once-ler’s caravan. There are other references; look for them. Comment on things that you liked or disliked about the film if you got to see it. Thank you to Mr. Reynolds for allowing your book and stuffed animal to be featured in the photo!

Some movies that are directed towards children have hidden meanings. The younger the kids will not understand the “public service announcements” but their parents will. As teenagers we need to take the movies we watch the way that the target market is supposed to interpt them and maybe then we will enjoy them a little more.

I saw the movie last weekend. I thought it was cute, but not something I would watch again or buy on DVD. Definately for the little kids, not the teens or adults.

I just saw ‘The Lorax’ last night, it was the most awful movie I’ve ever had to sit through. The entire movie was just a public service announcement.
