GALWAY–Interested in sharing your experiences, insights, and artwork about Galway?  The Galway High School and Galway Public Library are partnering to publish a book this year to showcase the uniqueness of Galway.  Compiling community members’ poems, photographs, quotes, and other artwork, the essence of our community will be commemorated in a single publication this spring.

The newest venture was inspired by a grant from the Saratoga Program for Arts Funding.  Awarding a generous donation of $2,500, Saratoga Arts has provided Galway with the financial means to publish this year. Officially named the “Galway Community in Images, Words, and
Sound,” the grant is part of the Decentralization re-grant program of the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) administered by Saratoga Arts.  Using these funds, the Galway Business Department will print 100 copies of the book, making it a coveted limited edition.

To make this book a success, we need your help!  The Village Press and Galway Public Library want your best visual and literary work to include in our book.  Whether you enjoy horseback riding, playing soccer, or baking homemade pies, we’re interested in showcasing your Galway experiences and talents.  Send us your masterpieces by MARCH 1ST, and we’ll let you know if your work will be featured in our upcoming publication!  The specifications are listed below:

Poems & Quotes:

Artwork: photos, drawings, paintings, sketches,

  • E-mail digital files to: [email protected]
  • At least 300 dpi (the higher quality the better)
  • Formats: .png, .tiff, or .bmp, are preferred. We also accept .jpg/.jpeg (the more pixels the better)

Stick to the theme. Ask yourself:

  • What does it mean to be part of the Galway community?
  • What do people in Galway do? What does it mean to live in this community? What experiences do Galway community members have?
  • Is this a creative?  Would other people enjoy this?

If you have a suggestion for the book title please post it in the comments below.
