Every year, the Eagles Media Center has an auction for a reserved student parking spot on the upper parking lot. The E-Commerce class this year has designed a whole new parking sign to replace the old rundown sign. This sign was created by Duncan Peter’s friend Ricky Ashzet who owns the business R3 Graphics and Sign Works and I must say did a fabulous job. This year, Eagles Media Center has come up with a whole new idea for one student to be able to have the parking spot instead of spending their money on it. The parking spot will definitely come in handy this winter for those people who hate walking far distances in a snow storm.

COMPETITION ENTRANCE RULES:

  • The parking spot is only allowed to a junior or senior who has a car and a license.
  • Write a comment to this article describing your experiences with your car and why you should be the one to have the parking spot.
  • The comment can be no more than 50 words.
  • Submit a picture of yourself holding your license next to your car, to [email protected].

They will then be judged off of eaglesmediacenter.com and the best one will earn the spot! Please make sure you submit your photo and description for review by Wednesday, November 16th.  Poppin’ Kernels will announce the winner of the parking pass on Friday, November 18th.

Hello, Eagles Media Center Staff I’m Paul Wojcik, and I’m now a Senior here at Galway High School. I own a Blue Suzuki Sx4 that would be an exceptional addition to the upper parking lot. I think this because I have been a hardworking, and very well disciplined student in and out of school for the past 13 years, and as a Senior i would like to have this special privilege of parking on the upper lot.

My red Jetta, Chaz, would make an excellent addition to the parking lot. He gets along well with other cars and is a very personable vehicle. As a senior intern for Mr. Swain I come in early every week for coffee. It would be super nice to not have to make the long walk at seven every monday. Plus i keep chaz clean by washing him evry week. It’s hard to keep him that way while driving in the dirty student lot especially when it rains and gets muddy. Chaz and I need that spot!

So far some pretty convincing arguments! I love the use of the pronoun we in your last sentence, Carolyn, and how the others appeal to the need for safety and efficiency.

Freddy the Ford is the name of my car. I have had him for a little over a year. My car is 16 years old and I hate to make him drive down in the nasty student lot. I am very involved with the school and so I am at the school late at night, walking alone to the student lot is very scary late at night. I am also a senior and student body president so with the work that I have put into the school, it would make my job easier and I could make the school even better.

My car and I have a very strong bond. He goes everywhere and I hate putting more stress on him than I have to. Having to share space in my small driveway at home with 7 other cars is hard on my car and same with the small student parking lot. I want to help my car live forever and not get hit by reckless student drivers. We deserve that parking spot!

I have had my car for almost a month now, and having the parking pass would make the perfect combination. I feel that I deserve the parking pass because I’m a role model student in the classroom, and, being that I’m an athlete, having the parking pass would make it easier for me to transport my bags around faster and easier.
