Galway High School recently received new chairs that will be used for the indoor sports teams.  The chairs were funded by the Galway Athletic Booster Club from the fundraisers and activities they have had.

I sat down with Mrs. Donovan and Mr. Healey and asked them some questions about the process of acquiring the chairs, and when/how they will be used.  Before they answered specific questions, they pointed out how much they appreciate the generosity of the booster club, and how they really deserve credit because not many people know how hard they really work.

Q:  How did the school get the idea for new Galway Athletics chairs?

A:  “One of the booster club members walked up and thought the old ones were getting a little worn and should be replaced.”

Q:  How were the chairs funded?

A:  “The Booster Club held fundraisers and activities to raise the money; they really work hard to help out our school!”

Q:  Is there anything else you want to replace/change for gymnasium?

A:  “Yes, we are looking into getting new sports banners for the gym walls.”

Q:  When do you plan on using the chairs?

A:  “We used them this week, and plan on using them on Friday night at the game.”

Q:  How much did the chairs cost all together?

A:  “$100 a piece for 30 chairs for a total of $3,000.”

I have always attended Galway High School and it is really great to see the changes that the gym has had since Mrs. Donovan and Mr. Healey have been here.  The freshly painted walls, the new Eagle decal, the new bleachers, and now the new chairs have the gym an appealing place for all.  I would like to also give a special thank you to the Galway Athletics Booster Club for all that they do.
